Hello Kindergarten families,
This week begins our second month of school! Your little cardinals have been busy doing their best each day.
We have noon dismissal on Monday. Friday is a full day of school.
Keep your calendars open for Back to School Night on Wednesday evening. First meet in the quad area at 6:30. Kindergarten, First and Second grade parents will meet in the MP1 room for about 25 minutes.
I always enjoy parents or family members assisting in class for Primary Centers or to read in library. In order to help on campus, you must have completed Virtus Training. We offer a class Saturday, Sept. 21 in the morning 9-12. Email or call office for more information.
A look at our academic week:
Religion: Celebration of the Liturgy – focus will be going to Mass to pray, learning about Jesus, and remembering the sacrifice he made for us. Over the next weeks will begin to identify and explain the purpose of the objects in church such as the altar, lectern, tabernacle, etc.
Language arts: words sorts, listening for syllables in our names, comparing letters and beginning sounds with our names, focus letter this week- Rr. Reading workshop – all are readers as we look, think, read pictures and maybe some words. Writing workshop has us drawing about a favorite place. I am seeing more detail as we express ourselves with writing. At home, encourage your child to draw and tell about their day.
Math: patterning with sounds, colors and shapes, getting to know numbers 5 through 7 this week.
A mystery science lesson about apples. And a taste!
Motor skills: Two days a week we focus on large motor skills with half the class going outside with Mr. Johnson. Two days your children use their hands to work their fine motor skills in class with me.
That should take us through the week. Look for my calendar for service hours on campus. I have some items to cut and letters to pop out to earn service hours at home.
Blessings,
Mrs. Brown
