I would like to congratulate each SHS student for a great performance at the music assembly on Halloween! Your hard work showed and the audience loved every grade’s contribution. Great work Cardinals!!!
Grades K, 1, and 2 are rehearsing new Christmas songs for the upcoming Christmas play. The songs are wonderful and I personally guarantee a spectacular show. Performances will be at a rehearsal at 1p and final performance at 7p on December 14. See you all then.
Grade 3 is studying the various instruments of the orchestra. Ask your child about the different musical instrument families and see what they say!
Grade 4 is busy learning and rehearsing Christmas songs on their recorders. It is very important for the students to come to each music class with their music folders and a recorder. The music folders and the brown recorders should be traveling with the students to and from school so that the students can practice at home. The students are doing a good job and I look forward to a Christmas performance. It may precede the Christmas play. More information will follow.
Grade 5 is busy learning to play the piano and they are all doing a wonderful job. Each 5th grade student should have a “silent keyboard”. We made the “silent keyboards” so that students can practice at home. Please ask your child if they are spending time practicing at home.
Grade 6 continues on their World Tour Of Music as we learn about European composers like Bach and Mozart. The Bach raps were spectacular and I’m looking forward to the Mozart timelines. Ask your child about this assignment as it is due 11/16!
Grade 7 is getting into the Holiday spirit by watching the classic story, “A Christmas Carol.” We are watching the musical version from 1971 starring Albert Finney. The plan is to sing a couple of the songs from the musical for the school!
Grade 8 is on a journey back in time to the founding of our nation’s musical traditions. They are enjoying listening to and discussing Spiritual songs from the Southern United States.
