After several weeks of studying the different forms of government and the Founding Fathers, the 8th grade class completed an Icivics lesson on Sovereign States. Icivics is an amazing website created by retired Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor. The site provides in-depth lessons and interactive games to engage students in civic education. The assessment for this lesson was to create their own country with government, economics, geography, and other factors. The presentations were very interesting and the class took it to the next level by writing treaties with each others’ countries. We will now move on to the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and the American Revolution.
