Students are encouraged to work on the memorization and presentation of their poem, story, or speech during the Easter vacation. Classroom competitions will take place during the week of May 5 with 5 students in grades K-7 and 10 in 8th grade selected to progress to category competitions. The K-3 category will compete on Tuesday, May 13 as the judges listen to finalists from Kindergarten & first grade and then second & third. The 4-7 category will compete on Wednesday, May 14 as the judges listen to finalists from 4th & 5th grade, and then 6th & 7th. Finally, on Thursday, May 15 the 10 8th grade finalists will compete among themselves before their panel of judges. All first, second, and third place winners will speak at a category level assembly Friday, May 16.
