Dear Third Grade Families,

Can you believe it? We’re on our very last trimester of the year! Report cards will go home Tuesday, March 15th.

We have an exciting week ahead of us. Firstly, we are moving forward in math from multiplication and division and on to territory: geometry! However, although we will not be learning about multiplication and division in our formal classroom lessons, I will continue to assess student on their math facts daily. It is my goal for every student to reach Goal 8, as our math standards list, “Know multiplication facts for the table of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10” as a third grade benchmark. Several students have already made it past Goal 5 and many others are well on their way. Keep up the good work!

This week in spelling we will be reviewing. Although this week’s words include a variety from Units 19-23, in class we are focusing on the three units students have struggled with the most: homophones, compound words and contractions. My suggestion would be to begin with these in your at-home studies.

With last Friday being the deadline to order donuts, students who ordered will celebrate Fat Tuesday this week with these sweet treats. Wednesday we will begin the season of Lent with 8:30 mass where we will receive our ashes. Parents and families are welcome to attend this event.  Friday, we will also resume saying the Rosary in our classroom. This is a great opportunity to reflect on the gifts God has given us while reviewing and practicing all that we learned about the Rosary in the fall.

Best,

Mrs. Espinosa
