Dear Kindergarten families,
I hope everyone enjoyed their Easter vacation! As we return to school, I am hoping we are rested, recharged, and ready for a full week and full day on Friday!
Remember our Jogathon is coming soon! May 10th is just a week and a few days away. Please support our school by returning envelopes with pledges.
Congratulations to Emma for taking 2nd place in the poetry contest! Bravo!
Let’s look at this last week of April:
Religion lessons will continue to reflect on the life of Jesus, our risen Lord and forgiveness. We will talk about Divine Mercy Sunday and name the three Divine Persons in one God. May begins a time to celebrate Mary and pray the Rosary.
We will be writing a narrative about Easter vacation. Where, when, who, what and how will be our sentence focus. Reading groups – remembering to try to read some difficult words and more sight words. Much of our reading material will be on our American Symbols. Words their Way will review sorts before Easter and move into a new sort if ready. Continue to practice sight words with the booklets and bring in each day.
Math finds us reviewing math facts to 10, number grid work, place value, and reinforcing numbers in sequence. We will practice putting nonconsecutive numbers in ascending or descending order working with vocabulary terms: smallest, largest, smaller, larger and order.
Social studies – starting a unit of our National Symbols.
Science lessons will wrap up our five senses unit and begin to work on water and liquids to solids.
Blessings to your families,
Mrs. Brown
