Our rescheduled field trip is tomorrow; please check your email for an important message from me regarding clothing and snacks. Friday is a full day of school.
THE WEEK AHEAD:
Religion: We begin the season of Lent this week with Mass on Ash Wednesday. We are working on essays for the Palmisano Writing Contest. Our topic is Making the World a Better Place through Acts of Kindness. We will write the essays during class time this week, but students can be brainstorming for ideas at home.
Math: We have moved on to Unit 6, which focuses on division and angle measurement. Students are to do ixL D 5 and 7 this week. This will be due next Monday.
Reading Workshop: We continue reading nonfiction books, doing research on our assigned Extreme Weather topics. Last week I sent home homework assignment #8, which discusses collecting additional information about our research topics. I would like students to look for additional resources (videos, articles, etc) and jot information from these resources to be shared with their research teams. Students are to complete a reading log and have it signed for all reading done at home (20-30 minutes per day). Click here for the reading log, which will be due next Monday. ReadingLog
Writer’s Workshop: We continue working on our personal essays.
Reading Fluency: It is fluency #25 this week; it will be due next Monday.
Spelling: Our focus is Unit 23; the test will be on Friday.
Vocabulary: We begin our study of Unit 13 words; the test will be next Friday.
Grammar: We are finishing our study of the different forms of verbs; we will have a Unit 3 test on Thursday.
Social Studies: We are learning more about missions at our field trip tomorrow, and on Friday we will have an in-school presentation about the Gold Rush.
Science: We are learning about the different composition of rocks and about the three types of rocks.
Thanking you for your continuing support,
Mrs. Mary Dwyer
