Dear Kindergarten Families,
Parents Day was fun, and the start of Catholic Schools Week. Thank you for coming and sharing our morning.
We celebrate Catholic Schools Week with focus on Learning, Serving, Leading and Succeeding. We show appreciation to our parish priests, students, teachers and all our school staff.
We are also celebrating Joaquin’s birthday on Thursday!
Wednesday is Student Appreciation day – your children have free-free dress. Mrs. Benner also treats students to a hamburger lunch. If your child does not care for hamburgers; please send a lunch.
Our academic week:
Our Promise Handbook teaches us to follow Jesus remembering how He teaches us to be fair, forgive, obey, show others kindness, give thanks and be truthful. SLE focus pairs nicely: A. 3 Help others at home, school and the world and A.4 Make good choices like Jesus.
Phonics and word work- beginning sounds finishing up Bb, Mm, Rr, Ss. We will be teaching our “friends” please have your child bring in a small stuffed animal. Ty’s are a good size. Reading skills continue with learning more snap (sight) words, beginning sounds and picture reading. We are practicing our informational writing with 3 step pictures and labels.
Math – number sense games and feeling comfortable with the 110 grid. Time to start in our Math workbooks! We begin with creating patterns, reviewing attributes with our shapes blocks, and if time allows this week exploring and counting with calculators.
Science – using our engineering skills to build log cabins with pretzel sticks. A mystery lesson, How can you find animals in the woods?
Friday is a full day with a fun afternoon activity led by the 8th graders which brings Catholic Schools Week to a close.
Thanking you for choosing Sacred Heart school!
