One week from this coming Friday, on January 20^th, we will have our first field trip. We will be going to the Albinger Archaeological Museum and SanBuenaventura Mission. There is a permission form to be filled out (click here for the form) museum field trip note as well as a waiver form for the City of Ventura (click here for the waiver form) waiver for trip to mission. Cost for the trip is $20. In preparation for the School Fair on February 22^nd, I have discussed the mission projects with the students, and I am attaching the handout I gave to the students this morning (click here for the handout) mission project 2017. Please decide upon a mission if you have not done so already, and let me know which one by email.

This Friday is a half-day, and then next Monday is a day off in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.

 

THE WEEK AHEAD:

Religion: We continue chapter 10; our main focus in this unit is the first three commandments.

Math: We conclude our study of Unit 4; the test will be on Thursday. I would like students to complete ixL Math skills T 10, 13 and 14; this will be due next Tuesday.

Reading Workshop: This week we begin a new unit: Reading Nonfiction. Students are to complete a reading log and have it signed for all reading done at home (20-30 minutes per day). Click here for the reading log, which will be due next Tuesday reading log.

Writer’s Workshop: This week we continue our unit on Opinion/Essay writing.

Reading Fluency: It is fluency #18 this week; it will be due next Tuesday.

Spelling: This week we are studying Unit 16. As practice, students will be writing each word three times, as well as completing the book pages. The test will be on Friday.

Vocabulary: We continue our study of Unit 9; the test will be on Friday.

Science: We continue chapter 3, which focuses on Energy in Ecosystems.

Social Studies: We continue discussing early explorers and their impact upon California.
