Dear Second Grade Families,
Our Thanksgiving week will be a short one. Please remember Wednesday is a noon dismissal day. We will begin our day with Mass in church.
When we return from our holiday weekend, it will soon be a new month and the beginning of the season of Advent. Mrs. Lyle is already deep into the Christmas program with singing and dialog. A note regarding costuming for this show will be forthcoming, (The program is Wednesday, December 15. More info to follow later).
If you are out and about this holiday doing some Christmas shopping, keep in mind “Teddy Bear Day” on Tuesday, December 7th. This is a good time to purchase a new Teddy Bear or other new stuffed animal to give away to needy children as part of Adopt-a-Family program.
NOVEMBER HOMEWORK ACTIVITIES and BOOK-It: These activities will be due on Tuesday, November 30.
OUR SHORT WEEK LOOKS LIKE THIS…
RELIGION: Thank you God. We show love when we show respect.
LANGUAGE ARTS: Whole group reading for comprehension and fluency; long vowels in phonics; no spelling test this week, but we will be reviewing activities and getting caught up; Thanksgiving language arts activities.
MATH: Continued addition and subtraction practice; place value; number patterns 10 to 100; Thanksgiving math activities. No timed math test this week.
SOCIAL STUDIES/SCIENCE: We had a good time at the California Oil Museum in Santa Paula last Thursday. This is a good family outing as well and the admission price is reasonable; The First Thanksgiving.
I am grateful and thankful for all of you. Those who are traveling, be safe. Enjoy this wonderful time for family and friends. Make some memories.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING, Mrs. Danforth
