THE WEEK AHEAD:
As the hot weather continues, the eighth graders continue selling bottled water on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Wednesday is a free dress, with a $1 donation (or more) for our Adopt-a-Family mission project. This Friday is a half-day; we will have Intermediate Centers after recess.
HOMEWORK (due Monday): CORRECTION: This week students should complete ixL Math skills C 1 and D 1, as well as Language skill B 4. (I mistakenly wrote down last week’s assignment on the board today). Students will be doing Fluency week 9. Please initial the sheet each time they read. They are to do 20-30 minutes of reading each night (please initial all reading done at home).
DAILY WORK
Religion: We are learning about how to follow the example of Jesus in our interactions with others.
Math: We are finishing work on Unit 2; we will have a test on Wednesday.
Reading Workshop: All students should be reading a realistic fiction book. Please initial the reading log for all reading that is done at home. Click here for a copy of the reading log. ReadingLog
Writing Workshop: We continue drafting scenes for our stories.
Spelling: We are working on Unit 8; the test will be on Thursday, not Friday.
Vocabulary: We begin work on Unit 5; the test will be next Friday.
Grammar: We continue working in Unit 2, Nouns. We will have a test next week.
Social Studies: Issues 5-9 focus on the early Americans in CA: Native Americans. We continue work on issue #5, which gives an overview.
Science: We will move on to chapter 2, interactions between living things.
