Dear Families of Second Graders,
Primary Centers had a great beginning. Thank you to our parent (and grandparent) volunteers. We could not have done it without your help!
Thank you for your attendance at Back to School night. Hope your questions were answered. Remember you can always reach us on our shared email.
This is another busy week for all students. This is a four-day week with Friday being a minimum day (dismissal at 12:00). It is Grandparents Day.
Wednesday, September 7, is a $1.00 free dress day with the money going towards the first trimester mission awareness program, Adopt a Family in the LA Archdiocese for Christmas. (Check the handbook for free dress guidelines). Water will also be sold on PE days for $1.00 with the proceeds going to the same collection. Thanks for your help.
Please remember to sign (signature, not initials) all homework and the Homework Planner page.
The Tuesday folder will go home today. Please empty it, go over work with your child, sign it and give it to your child to return to school.
How’s the search for Flat People host coming? Please remember the guidelines from the packet received at Back to School night and our discussion.
Here’s a look at our week…
RELIGION: Sign of the Cross. Please help your child to treat the Sign of the Cross with reverence in words and actions. Many times the motion seems to look like someone swatting flies. We want to avoid that impression. Jesus is God’s best gift. God cares for His gifts, as each person is special.
LANGUAGE ARTS: More short vowels in spelling and phonics; sentence writing; handwriting practice; creative writing; rhyming; dictation; reading for comprehension and fluency as we finish up “Dragon Gets By.”
MATH: We will continue to work on addition facts through12, looking at order property (3+5 is the same as 5+3), counting on, the use of the number line, doubles and doubles plus 1. We will also graph birthdays.
SOCIAL STUDIES/SCIENCE: Groups and communities/ Plants.
Have a good week,
Mrs. Danforth and Mrs. Vazquez
