I hope you all had an enjoyable four-day weekend!

Our reading strategy this week is predict/infer and the comprehension skill that will help with that strategy is predicting.  Taking time to look through what we are going to read, to look at titles or pictures and predict what the story will be about can help us understand the story better.  Stop while reading, predict what a character might do or what events might take place – see if you can infer what will happen next or what is most likely to happen.  Our phonics focus is the long /a/ sound spelled with the vowel pairs ai or ay, as in sail or day.  Our spelling words this week are from unit 27.  Our grammar focus is on naming words for one or more than one.

Math this week, finds us beginning Chapter 6 with learning to count on to add on Wednesday. In religion we are learning how Jesus teaches us to love.  We are continuing our unit in science on different habitats.  Our social studies unit is continues to be the study of community life.
