Hello 3rd Grade Families,
Happy (almost) Halloween! This Friday will be a free dress day. As with all free dress days, students should arrive in comfortable, school appropriate play clothes.
This week in class…
Math: Unit 3: Measurement. We will begin to wrap up the unit with an in-depth study of perimeter and area. As of now, the Unit 3 test is scheduled for next Wednesday.
For IXL homework this week, please complete the following Skills…
V.8 Perimeter
V.10 Area of figures made of unit squares
V.11 Create figures of a given area
Reading: Our focus now turns to vocabulary. More specifically, we are learning to use prior knowledge and context to predict and confirm the meanings of known words — an essential skill for readers of all ages. This week’s Parent Pipeline will show you ways to incorporate this skill into your regular reading routine.
Small Group Reading Reminder: Please turn in your child’s newly purchased books by or before next Monday. E-mails were sent last week with titles and authors.

Grammar: We will continue with Unit 2, now turning our attention to Lessons 12 and 13: Regular and Irregular Plural Nouns.
Science: The class will be learning all about light!
Social Studies: Our attention now turns to California’s landforms and geography.
Religion: We will begin Chapter 3: We are God’s Holy People. Click here for the Study Guide.
All the Best,
