Happy Halloween! Thursday is a free dress day. Although it is a holiday, students are expected to abide by the “Dress Code for Non-Uniform Days.” Please, no costumes. Below is a link for your information:

This week we’ll be studying the following:
Math: The class will continue with Unit 3 covering lessons 3.2, 3.3 and 3.4. Feel free to follow along with us at www.everydaymathonline.com. Your child’s username and password can be found in his/her planner.

Vocabulary: This week we begin Unit 6. Please see the Vocabulary Workshop site for a list of the words and other practice activities. Your child’s username and password can be found in his/her planner.
Reading: The class will continue our second novel, Sarah, Plain and Tall, with an emphasis on identifying the main idea and separating that from supporting details. Please continue to work with your child on this at home as categorizing main ideas or “important information” as separate from supporting details, “interesting facts,” can be applied to just about any reading passage.

English: The class will begin Unit 2 this week: Nouns! We will begin with Lesson 1, a quick review identifying people, places and things in sentences.
Science: In class, we will begin Chapter 8: Forms of Energy.
Social Studies: We will learn a bit about Ventura County’s first people, the Chumash!
Religion: We will finish Chapter 6, “We Believe in God,” with the story of Moses leading his people out of slavery. The Chapter 6 quiz will be on Thursday. Click here to view the Study Guide.
