Wednesday is another free dress day. Please bring $1 (or more!) to benefit the Adopt-a-Family Program. Our first field trip has been planned! Mark your calendars for October 26th when we will head over to the pumpkin patch at Underwood Family Farms in Moorpark. Permission slips with more information will go home with your child on Tuesday.
Trimester 1 Progress Reports go home on Tuesday as well. Please take a moment to sign and review these before sending them back.

Math: This week we will wrap up Chapter 2 with a test on Wednesday morning. After that, we will move on to our next Chapter: Measurement!

Reading: This week is all about how to approach and tackle more complex texts. We will learn that one thing shared by determined readers is the presence of grit.
Word Work: New words went home on Monday. Our next spelling test will be on Friday. Remember that students are welcome to use Spelling City, or any other method to study. As you learn, be sure to focus on the pattern though rather than memorizing specific words. The ultimate goal is for students to be able to spell other, similar words using those same patterns.
Grammar: This week we temporarily change gears, turning our attention away from identifying nouns and toward finding the subjects of simple sentences. Science: We are pleased to welcome our class science coach, Dr. Rzasa!!!, on Tuesday morning. The class will learn all about his work as a chemist before moving on to our special lab.
