Hello Third Grade Families,
Happy President’s Day! I hope everyone enjoyed the long, sunny weekend.
Math: Unit 6 continues with a focus on symmetry and congruence before moving into polyhedrons (3-dimentional shapes). We will learn to identify and count apexes, faces, bases, edges and vertices.

Reading: We will be turning our attention now to fluency: Adjusting and Applying Different Reading Rates to Match Texts . This is great for applying at home as you practice repeated reading through the fluency homework. Click here for the Parent Pipeline.

Word Work: This week’s words can be found in your child’s planner. Our next spelling test is scheduled for Friday.
Grammar: Our grammar focus is on Helping Verbs: Lessons 21 & 22. Go online to the Grammar Workshop website in order to access more practice and study opportunities.
Writer’s Workshop: We’ll be taking a short break from informational writing this week in order to revisit the personal narrative. The class will be working on entries for the Palmisano Writing Contest!
Science: The School Fair is fast approaching. This week and next will be dedicated to preparing and creating our solar system project in class.
Social Studies: February 25th is our next field trip. We will be going to the Chumash Museum in Thousand Oaks. Permission slips have been sent home via e-mail. Remember to turn these in as soon as possible.
Religion: This week marks the first of our weekly visits to the Stations of the Cross. These will be held every Wednesday (until Easter) at 2:00. All are welcome to attend.
