Dear Third Grade Families,
Our Valentine’s Day class party was a hit. Thank you to our fabulous room parents for putting together our “red fruit” treats.
We had a blast at the Santa Barbara Natural History Museum’s planetarium last Thursday. Thank you to all the parents who packed a “no trash” lunch. The museum staff was very pleased with us and even sent me home with a free ticket for every family in our class! You can look forward to receiving your ticket in next Tuesday’s work packets.
This week, we will be focusing on the following:
Language Arts: We will be writing a Thank You letter to the planetarium docent to lead our field trip. We will also study compound words and vocabulary that centers on taking a trip. Our class will be making compass roses!
Math: We continue to study fractions moving on from comparing and ordering fractions to finding equivalent fractions. In small groups, we will be making fraction “kits” with models of fractions to compare in size.
Social Studies: We will be mapping where in the world some of our things come from.
Science: The class will take a look at the life of John Glenn and his accomplishments, as there are many.
Religion: We will begin the week with Fat Tuesday and decide as a class what we would like to take up or give up for the duration of Lent.
I hope you have a fantastic week!
Best,
Mrs. Espinosa
