We have another particularly eventful week before us. Mark your calendars with the events below…
Tuesday: Art with Mrs. Spooner!
Wednesday: Free Dress…again! This one is has a “Wacky Wednesday” theme in honor of the book by Dr. Seuss.
Friday: Intermediate Centers!
Finally, CHEERS to our very own Eric, the big winner for grades 3, 4 and 5 in this year’s Palmisano Writing Scholarship Contest. Bravo!!!
In class…
Math: We will continue our unit on fractions, now focusing on fraction number stories (word problems) and finding equivalent fractions.
IXL Homework:
X.1 Find equivalent fractions using area models.
X.2 Identify equivalent fractions on number lines.
Reading: Read Across America continues all the way through the end of March. Students in third grade will receive 1 ticket for every 20 minutes recorded in their reading logs, so make sure to fill these out as you read.
In Reader’s Workshop, we will continue our unit on Research Book Clubs. This week the students will learn all about using the lingo of experts!
Word Work: This week’s words can be found in your child’s planner. Due to Centers on Friday, our next spelling test is scheduled for Monday.
Writer’s Workshop: This week we plan to wrap up our unit on Informational Writing by turning in all published pieces. Our next unit will be all about persuasive writing or “Writing to Change the World.”
Science: We will continue with our unit on Organisms of Long Ago, now learning all about why paleontologists study fossils before learning how fossils can be dated.
Social Studies: We will continue our unit on Government and Citizenship. This week is all about the U.S. Constitution.
Religion: The class will finish Chapter 10: God Created People to Share His Life with a short quiz on Thursday. Click here for a study guide. Wednesday afternoon we go again to Stations of the Cross in the Church, this time at 1:00. As always, all are welcome to join if your schedule permits.
