Dearest Third Grade Families,
This week we’ll be studying the following:
Math: The class will begin Unit 9 (Multiplication & Division) covering lessons 9.1, 9.2 & 9.3. As always, you are welcome to follow along with us by completing the “Home Links” at www.everydaymathonline.com. Your child’s username and password can be found in his/her planner.
Likewise, we continue to practice our multiplication and division facts. Take a look in your child’s planner for the latest progress report and individual goal. As a reminder, this is part of the nightly homework.

Reading & Writing: Congratulations to our 3rd grade finalists for this year’s SHS Speech Contest. The following people will be reciting before a panel of judges Tuesday afternoon and will be notified on Friday at our school assembly of who the big winner is.

English: The class will continue Unit 5: Pronouns with Lessons 38 (Possessive Pronouns) & 39 (Pronoun-Antecedent Agreement). The Unit 5 Test will take place next Wednesday. Additional practice and exercises are always available at the Grammar Workshop website.

Vocabulary: This week we begin Unit 17. Our next vocabulary quiz will be next Friday. As a reminder, all words as well as activities and a practice quiz can be found at the Vocabulary Workshop website.
Science: We will continue our study of life science with Chapter 1, “Adaptations to Land and Water” Lesson 3: Aquatic Habitats. The Chapter 1 test will be next Thursday.
Social Studies: Our field trip to the Chumash Museum last week was a hit! This week we will do some follow-up activities in the classroom.
Religion: We will begin Chapter 17 – Jesus Christ is Lord and King. Click here for the chapter Study Guide. Our next quiz will be next Thursday.
