Dear Third Grade Families,
Our field trip to Underwood Family Farms last week couldn’t have been better! Each student was able to pick and take home a pound of strawberries, 2 onions, a head of lettuce and stalk of celery. We also enjoyed the tractor ride and feeding a variety of farm animals. The weather was beautiful and the students had a blast.
I am pleased to say that every third grader has now registered with the FACTS tuition management program. This means that we can all enjoy Monday’s free dress!
Tuesday is our last library day of the school year. Please be sure your child turns in his/her books so we can take advantage of this final opportunity.
Wednesday is the annual 8th grade Powder Puff football game at noon. Then, that afternoon we will rehearse the Spring Program at 1:15 in the Hall for the Sacred Heart School student body. Later that evening, it’s showtime! We are scheduled to take the stage with 4th and 5th grades from 7:00-8:15. Students are to dress in a country/western theme. Jeans, boots, plaid, bandanas, cowboy hats, white button-downs are all appropriate costumes. The students have been working very hard to learn all of their lines, so I’m sure it will be a great show!
This week we plan to finish Chapter 11 in math (fractions and decimals). Then, we will move on to data organization and probability. In language arts, we will continue our unit on Beverly Cleary moving on to “The Hard-boiled Egg Fad,” a chapter from Ramona Quimby, Age 8.
We are still collecting non-perishable foods for 5th grade’s trip to the Food Share. If you have not done so, please send in some cans or other food items (rice, pasta, beans, etc.) with your child to school. It will go directly to hungry local families.
As a reminder, Friday is a noon dismissal day.
Have a great week!
Best,
Mrs. Espinosa
