Hello Third Grade Families,
At last, it’s finally here: the SHS Jog-a-Thon! Friday morning remember to wear sunscreen, comfortable shoes and your PE uniforms. In addition to the run, students will have the opportunity to enjoy: Kona Ice, a photo booth & pie throwing, in addition to the Spirit signs, shout-outs by the one and only DJ Joggy and small hand-held fans that will be available. For the best deals, I highly recommend pre-sale purchases. And of course, parents and families are welcome to join in the fun.
Math: All good things must come to and end, so this week we will wrap up our study of fractions with a test on Tuesday. After that, we will move on to our next unit of study: Multiplication and Division, part III. As always, see the Home Links at www.everydaymathonline.com for extra practice and review. Your child’s username and password can be found in his/her planner.
This week’s IXL homework assignment is as follows:
T.1 Identify equivalent fractions on number lines.
U.10 Order fractions with like numerators.
V.1 Fractions of a number – unit fractions.
Spelling: Click here for this week’s spelling words/pattern.
Vocabulary: Although we will finish Unit 16 this week, the unit test will be next Monday as we may be in a time crunch with Friday’s festivities. Since this gives you more time to study, go to the Vocabulary Workshop website for words and definitions. Login information can be found in your child’s planner.
Grammar: We are moving on to Unit 6: Capitalization, Punctuation and Spelling. This week we will cover lessons 41 and 42.
Reading: Our guided reading groups continue with new aides leading each group.

Social Studies: The class will continue our unit on Government and Citizenship.
Science: We will continue with Life Science: Adaptations to Land and Water focusing on various different biomes including deserts and the tundra.
Religion: This week we begin Chapter 4, “God Called Mary.”
