Dear Third Grade Families,
This week marks the beginning of ITBS testing for grades 2-8. We will be testing during the early mornings for the next two weeks. As always, please remember to arrive at school on time after enjoying a healthy breakfast. Results will be shared with parents during conferences in early December.
Wednesday is our first Free Dress day of the year! Bring $1 if your child plans to participate. All funds collected will go directly to charity. Please see the school handbook for Free Dress Day dress code guidelines.
In class this week, we’ll be studying the following:
Math: Unit 1 Lessons 1.11 & 1.12: Problem Solving with Money & Patterns! We continue to review key content. Feel free to follow along with us at www.everydaymathonline.com. Your child’s username and password can be found in his/her planner.

Reading: We will be finishing up Julian Tells these next two weeks. After ITBS testing, we will begin our second book, Grandfather’s Journey followed by Sarah Plain and Tall.

English: We will continue with Unit 1 in our Grammar books, “Sentences.” We will complete Lesson 5, “Simple Sentences: Predicates.” Mrs. Redmond will continue to guest teach our writing lessons focusing on persuasive essays.
Science: In class, we will finish Chapter 6, Lesson 3 “Thermal Energy.” The focus will be on the differences between heating and cooling matter. We plan to have our first science test (Chap. 6) next week.
Social Studies: We will learn about California’s resources including natural resources, human resources and capital resources.
Religion: We will complete Chapter 3, “God Gives Us Gifts” learning about the many talents of King David. We will also discuss ways in which to use our talents in order to serve God and others. Our second religion quiz is scheduled for Wednesday. Click here for the study guide.
