Dear Third Grade Families,
It was a pleasure meeting so many families on Grandparent’s Day. Third grade had a record turn out! Thank you for joining us for the morning. We loved having you!
In class this week, we’ll be studying the following:
Math: Unit 1 Lessons 1.9, 1.10 & 1.11: Calculators and Money! We continue to review key content. Feel free to follow along with us at www.everydaymathonline.com. Your child’s username and password can be found in his/her planner.
For IXL math homework, please complete the following Third Grade skills:

N.3 Purchases – Do you have enough? – up to $10
N.4 Making Change
Note: My plan is to test on Everyday Math Unit 1 next Friday.
Spelling: Click here to download this week’s spelling words and pattern/principle.
Reading: We will be focusing on asking questions before, during and after reading. Furthermore, we will discuss why readers ask questions and how readers find answers to those inquiries. Poetry will be used to practice these skills. They will also be applied to our in-class reading.

English: We will continue with Unit 1 in our Grammar books, “Sentences.” We will complete Lesson 4, “Simple Sentences: Subjects.”
Science: In class, we will finish Chapter 6, Lesson 2 “States of Matter.” We will focus on what makes solids, liquids and gases different from each other including whether each has a definite shape.
Social Studies: We will learn more about California’s regions including the coast, central valley, desert & mountains.
Religion: We will begin Chapter 2, “God Gives Us Gifts,” by examining our town talents as well as those of King David. Click here to take a peek at the Chapter 2 Study Guide.
Best,
