Hello Third Grade Families,
Merry Christmas! This is our last week before the holiday break and there is much to be done. We have been working diligently to finish up our Christmas projects as well as to tie up any and all loose ends.
Since this week will be especially busy for all, we will not have reading logs, spelling, vocabulary or IXL math homework. Instead, prepare yourself for the coming holiday and take some time to review our class curriculum.
This week we’ll be studying the following:
Math: The class will complete Unit 4 (Multiplication & Division) with a test on Wednesday. During the break, please remember to begin practicing those multiplication and division Goals starting with #1 (the 10s facts). Individual student testing will begin upon our return in January. If your child is confident with Goal 1, feel free to start practicing Goal 2 as well.
Reading: Upon our return from break, the class will be working on a comparative Allan Say unit. Each child will be required to bring in a copy of both Tea With Milk and Emma’s Rug Monday, January 6th.
English: The class will spend a lot of time this week polishing our personal narratives in Writer’s Workshop. For some, this means moving on to publishing. For others, the next step is revising or drafting.
Science: Our Chapter 8 Test will take place this Thursday. Students may choose to take home to their textbooks as well as their science notebooks to review so long as they return both each day for classroom use.
Social Studies: We will learn more about holiday traditions as celebrated around the globe.
Religion: We will go to confessions in the Church this Tuesday at 9:00am. Also, the Chapter 11 Test is this Wednesday. Click here for the Chapter 11 Study Guide.
Merry Christmas!
