Welcome to third grade! This is your child’s first year in the Intermediate grades and as I’m sure you’ll see, there is much to look forward to.

Before Back-to-School night, I just want to fill you in on some basics:

My plan is to gradually build up to full speed when it comes to homework. I will begin sending home a Reading Log the first full week of school. We will begin our math, spelling & vocabulary work the second and third full weeks. Other supplementary homework assignments (for example, learning multiplication and division facts, completing school fair projects & learning a poem for the school speech contest, etc.) will be assigned as needed throughout the year.

I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. E-mail is by far the best way to reach me as check it daily. My address is: thirdgrade@sacredheartschoolventura.org.  I will be posting a newsletter each week here on our school website with homework assignments, classroom updates and notice on important events that are up and coming. For individual concerns, I will contact you either by phone, a note home in your child’s planner, or e-mail. Our trusty room moms will also be contacting you soon in order to update our class roster and contact list.

Please feel free to participate in your child’s third grade year as much as your schedule permits. Whether it be helping out at lunchtime or joining us at Friday morning mass, your presence is sure to enrich your child’s school experience.
