Dear Fifth Grade Families,

I hope everyone enjoyed the three day weekend!  We have a busy week in the fifth grade.  This Friday is our Valentine’s Day party.  Students are to bring treats for everyone’s Valentine’s bag.  Students do not need to put names on the treats.  They just need to make sure they bring one for everyone in class (27 students).  This Friday is also a noon dismissal.  Below please find an overview of our week.

Religion:  We will be describing how the Eucharist celebrates the Paschal Mystery.

Math:  We will be reviewing the whole, improper fractions and mixed numbers.  For IXL.com students are to do section L.1 which is reviewing fractions.  Please make sure that your child is completing three Acc assignments a week.

Vocabulary:  We will be taking our unit 7 test on Tuesday.  We will then begin unit 8.

Grammar:  Unit 3.  Our focus this week is on irregular verbs.

Science: Chapter 10.  We will begin to discuss the different states of matter, liquid, solid and gas.

Social Studies:  We will summarize the economic functions of the plantations.  We will also compare and contrast the lives of the indentured servants and the lives of slaves.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.  Thank you.

Ms. Carney
