Dear Kindergarten Parents,

What a nice Parent’s day we had on Friday, the kick off of Catholic Schools Week. Thank you all for coming in and learning with us! Events this week center around our faith, knowledge, service to others and the value Catholic education has on our lives.

Wednesday is Student Appreciation Day – Principal’s treat — free lunch and free dress!

Friday is a full day — with an assembly and carnival activities in the afternoon.

Our academics:

Religion: Understanding our faith knowledge as we look at self as followers of Jesus, our Good Shepherd. We will continue to learn from His teachings to love and serve others.  SLE focus is C.4 Never Give Up and C. 5 We are good leaders.

ELA –  letter focus on /h/, strategy for reading: summarizing and organizing as we respond to stories in our practice reading text. Sight word practice, sentence work, short vowel sound /a/ in word family ‘at’. Rhyming, segmenting and blending CVC words to strengthen our beginning reading skills.

Math – counting and matching with dominoes and number cards, measurement with the pan balance, composing numbers with objects 0-10 and decomposing numbers 0-5 also with objects.

Social Studies – identifying and understanding needs from wants – with a writing activity.

Science – properties of water – a lab on the 3 states.

That should take us through the week!

Mrs. Carol Brown
