Dear Kindergarten Parents,

I hope all enjoyed time together with family and friends over the 4-day weekend while observing Memorial Day.

As we venture on with the last week of May, religion lessons center on Mary, our Blessed Mother. Habits of prayer are best learned by praying with family and others as we do in class. The chapter in our religion text ‘Celebrating is Good’ invites your children to hear God’s word through prayer, song, and their personal drawings, as we give thanks for all the gifts in our lives.

More academics / focus studies:

Reading strategies – beginning, middle, and end as we explore characters, setting, when or why as we listen to books read in class. Non-fiction reading and listening are included in our weekly comprehension through our science (natural resources) and social studies (national holidays).

Math has us reviewing two concepts: place value, shapes (solid and plane) as we continue with simple subtraction. Please continue to count change at home to reinforce the value of pennies, nickels, and dimes.

This week we are celebrating two friends with early July birthdays, Megan (4th) and Nathaniel (9th). Likewise in June we will celebrate two more July birthdays for Sean and Nathan who will turn six on July 17!

This Friday is a noon dismissal.

Enjoy your week!

Mrs. Carol Brown
