Dear Kindergarten Parents,

Great first week of school! We learned procedures, routines and expectations and did well in all areas.  Now your children will experience a full week of school with dismissal at 2:45 all week!  Full days ….some may need Extended Day Care (EDC) if so, please let me know via email or note in the morning.

As hot weather is predicted, don’t forget the water bottles! Also, all children need a light snack for our 10:00 recess/nutrition break. And of course a lunch for full day schedule. Ordering through the cater is easy and offers many food choices, see “the diner table” icon on the right side of our web page.

Wednesday evening is a time for adult family members to attend Back to School Night. Parents, please meet on the patio courtyard area at 6:30 for a brief talk. We will have two 20 minutes sessions in the classrooms. I plan to cover academic information, workshops, daily schedule, and have time for questions.

Academics:

Religion: Readings from Genesis in the Children’s Bible, we are learning how and when God Created the Earth. A cute craft to help us remember all God did in the first 7 days.

English Language Arts: Reading and Writing Workshops will begin this week. Alphabet knowledge, initial sounds, and matching upper case to lower case letters. Everyday we practice letter and number formation.

Everyday Math: daily routines, pattern blocks, counting skills, sorting by attributes, calendar and graphing. EM teaches us math skills with hands-on practice using multi sensory games to explore and learn.

Science: we will begin with science safety in the lab – first unit covers observing plants and animals.

Social Studies: occupations – thinking of Labor Day!

Motor Skills: our day ends with motor skills – we will begin with fine motor- using Play-doh and cutting skills. When the weather cools a bit we will spend time working the large muscle group.

Blessings,

Mrs. Brown
