This Wednesday we have a free dress ($1 donation to help support St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, our mission focus for the third trimester). Friday is a half-day and we will have Intermediate Centers. Next Monday we go to the Olivas Adobe to learn more about life in the Rancho Period in California. See below for important information and permission forms. Regarding the Speech Contest: everyone should have a poem selected by now, and I should have a copy of that poem; we will start recitations next week!

General reminders:

  • P.E. will be on the 11th and the 12th of April and Music will be on the 13th and 14th.
  • We will have the In N Out Truck on campus on April 25th , along with Dip N Dots. This is a fundraiser for our school, and we hope all will take advantage of this special opportunity. The last day for sending in orders is April 21st.
  • The last day for ordering yearbooks is April 22nd.

What we are working on this week:

Religion: We conclude our study of the sixth and ninth commandments and begin discussing the seventh commandment.

Math: We learn how to use a half-circle protractor and how to divide with two digit divisors. There will be a test on Unit 6 on Thursday, if we are ready, or early next week. This week students should complete ixL Math skills, P 14, P 16 and E 13.

Spelling: We will be studying the words in Unit 27; the test will be on Friday.

Grammar: We continue our work with adjectives.

Writing Workshop: We will work this week on selecting good essay topics.

Vocabulary: We begin our study of Unit 14; the test will be next week.

Reading: The reading log will be due next Monday (click here for a copy) reading log fiction nonfiction and Fluency Homework #28 will be due next Monday as well.  Last week we learned a new Comprehension Strategy: Recognize Literary Elements. Social Studies: We have moved on to issue #17, the Discovery of Gold in California! Next Monday we will be going on our field trip to the Olivas Adobe. Students are to wear pants that can be rolled up or shorts, along with the uniform shirt. They should bring jackets or sweatshirts, a disposable sack lunch and drink, and a small bath towel for clean-up after making adobe bricks. Science: Students have a poster to finish this week, and we will have the Chapter 6 test on Thursday.
