Fall arrives this week, and with it, hopefully, some cooler weather.  For now, please send plenty of water to school with your child!  Picture Day is coming up on Wednesday the 23rd; a picture folder was sent home last week, but you can also order pictures online.  See the school website for further details.

What we are working on this week:

Religion: We have finished Unit One (chapters 1-3); we are reviewing the main ideas and will have a test on Wednesday.  I sent home a review sheet today.  You can access a copy here.  unit 1 Religion study guide We are also learning about Pope Francis and his visit to the U.S. beginning this week.

Math: Students should complete ixL Math skills P31, A7 and J1 by next Monday.  We have started Unit Two, which focuses upon Number Sense and Data.

Spelling: We begin our study of Unit 5 words, homophones. Students are to be working on the unit pages in their Spelling books, and these pages are to be done by Friday.  They will draw homophone pairs pictures, which will also be due on Friday.  The test will be on Friday.

Grammar: We will be learning about complex sentences.

Writing Workshop: We are working on developing realistic characters in preparation for writing a realistic fiction.

Vocabulary: We are learning the words for Unit 3, making flash cards with definitions and synonyms written on them.

Reading: Fluency homework #4 should be completed by next Monday.  There is a different Reading log this week, which will be due next Monday as well.  Click here to access. reading log #3 We continue reading our literature selections in groups.

Social Studies: We continue with Week 2, in which we learn about the four regions of CA.

Science: We continue our study of the components of various ecosystems.
