THE WEEK AHEAD:

We will have a Patriotic Free Dress day on Thursday; cost is $1; this is a fundraiser for our Adopt-a-Family mission project. This Friday is Veteran’s Day, which is a school holiday.

Coming up next week: The eighth graders will be selling cookies, which will be delivered on Friday the 17th. Preorders will be necessary, and I will begin taking orders starting tomorrow. The cost is $1 per cookie. Saturday the 18th is the Palmisano basketball clinic. Proceeds from the clinic become part of the Palmisano scholarship fund.

HOMEWORK (due Monday): This week students should complete ixL Math skills D 8 and E 2, as well as Language skill D 1. Students will be doing Fluency week 12.

DAILY WORK

Religion: We will finish chapter 6, discussing the need for forgiveness and the sacrament of Reconciliation, and then we will go on to chapter 7.

Math: We continue Unit 3.

Reading Workshop: As we continue reading realistic fiction, we are looking for the themes, or lessons found in the stories. Please initial the reading log for all reading that is done at home.

Writing Workshop: We continue work on our stories; most students are revising their stories and writing second drafts.

Spelling: We are working on Unit 11; the test will be on Thursday.

Vocabulary: We continue work on Unit 6; the test will be on Thursday.

Grammar: We continue work in unit 3, with the focus on Verbs.

Social Studies: We continue working on our Native American group reports.

Science: We conclude our study of chapter 2 this week, and will have a test next week.
