Our week in 4thgrade…

Math: We are working from Unit 1: Naming and Constructing Geometric Figures. This week we are focusing on polygons and drawing circles with a compass.

ELA:

-Writing: We are in the middle of our realistic fiction writing.

-Reading: Our Reading Response Journals go home on Monday! Please see the directions in your child’s homework folder. Remember nightly homework is to read 20-30 minutes!

-Vocabulary: We are in our second week of Unit 1. We will be taking our test later this week.

-Spelling: We are working from Unit 1. This is a review unit and therefore many of our words are easy for us! We have 25 words written in our daily planners but we will only be tested on 20. We will be taking our test later this week.

Social Studies:Our new books have arrived! As they are paperback and we want to preserve them for as long as possible, I am asking that each family cover a social studies book with clear contact paper. This will also provide you with an opportunity to sneak a peek at our new books and the amount of work expected of us within our curriculum! Please return the social studies books by Tuesday, September 4th.  We will begin our first official lesson next Tuesday!

Science:We are spending our days discussing ecosystems- reviewing living and nonliving things and different conditions within ecosystems.

Religion:As we finished our SLE project last week (see our upcoming Worship Wednesday Newsletter for details) we will begin our first unit in our religion books: We Come to Know God.
