FIRST GRADE NEWSLETTER

NOTE FROM MRS. VAZQUEZ:

We have started our first full week in First Grade! Our class is busy learning our daily routines and procedures. I look forward to meeting you all on Wednesday at Back to School. It will begin at 6:30p.m.  See you soon!

HOMEWORK

Homework will begin next week. I will assign Math and/or Language IXL weekly along with a reading log. In a few weeks, fluency homework will be included in the weekly homework. All homework assignments are due on Tuesday.

A SNEAK PEEK AT OUR ACADEMICS

Language Arts: In the next few weeks we will be working on Kindergarten Review. We are reviewing letter sounds and printing letters.    In writing, we will complete an assessment on narrative writing.

Math: We will work on comparing numbers, writing numbers, reading a calendar, and completing assessments.

Religion: We started writing in our prayer journal.

REMINDERS

  • Remember PE uniforms on Tuesday and Thursday! Please make sure that long hair is pulled back and your child is wearing tennis shoes.
  • As a reminder, if your child cannot tie their own shoes, your student must wear Velcro shoes, especially on P.E. days. Please see our school handbook for more information regarding dress code.
  • We have Mass every Friday.  All families are welcome to attend at 8:30.  Every first Friday of the month, we have a “family mass” where children participate in mass including our friends (3-8) in choir.
  • Check on our school website for all PRIMARY CENTER days!  I will always need volunteers.  🙂
  • Friday is a full day.
  • MARK YOUR CALENDAR: PICTURE DAY, Sept.4th!!!!

Please send me an email with any questions. 🙂

Have a wonderful week!

Mrs. Perez-Vazquez
