Dearest Second Grade Parents,

We have a short and busy two and a half days.   I hope you all had a little time to spend time with each other this weekend.  Our Christmas Program will be on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. On Wednesday, we will have our book exchange & classroom celebration.   A big thank you to our  room parents who have been organizing this special celebration.

Here is a look at our week.

P.E.:  The children do not need to wear there P.E. uniform on Tuesday since we will be performing for the school in the afternoon.

Homework:  Spend a little time playing games.  2nd trimester holiday reading log is a game log this week.  There will be NO fluency/Common Core Homework.  We will return to our regular homework schedule in 2013. 🙂

Language Arts:

Writing:  Writing a letter to parents and making a card for flat host family.

Reading:  We will be reading The Gingerbread Man and The Gingerbread Baby.  We will finish comparing and contrasting the character and setting in the stories.

Spelling:  This week we will review spelling patterns we have learned and play “sparkle”.

Music: We will have our final practice today.  The students will have their rehearsal on Tuesday afternoon for the school.  Tuesday night will be our performance.

Grammar:  Review nouns (common/proper), punctuation, possessive nouns

Religion:  Advent & Christmas  We will finish lighting our bulletin board Advent wreath in class (3rd & 4th week).
