Sneak Peek to our Academic Week

math: We continue on with our geometry unit! This week we will work with angles, starting with right angles. We will practice making our own angles as well as being able to identify whether they are bigger or smaller to a right angle. Then, we will work with triangles, discovering the different types of triangles: right, isosceles, obtuse, etc…

reading: In our character study reading unit, we will continue to analyze the main character, Opal, in our class read aloud, Because of Winn Dixie. We will continue to identify the character traits of our characters by paying close attention to the things they do and say in the story.

writing: This week we begin our new writing unit, opinion! This week we will work to plan a speech (opinion piece) by identifying the reasons for our opinions as well as coming up with concrete examples of those opinions in order to be as convincing as possible!

word work: Word work lists can be found in your child’s planner. Spelling tests are scheduled for this Friday.

religion: This week we embark on our Lenten journey as we prepare and make room in our hearts for Easter. We will be attending mass on Ash Wednesday. Please join us if your schedule allows!

social studies: We continue with The Chumash!

Have a great week!

Blessings,
Miss Poindexter
