Dear Second Grade Families,
Happy New Year! I hope you all enjoyed your family and friends during this special season. I would like to thank all of you for the special cards and gifts. I would like to send a special thank you to our room parents who made our class celebration a success. The children enjoyed making their gingerbread house.
Take a Peek at Our Week:
Homework: Reading Log, IXL (M.2; if your child finishes before the 20 minutes, please have them do Q.5),Fluency
Language Arts:
Reading: Begin the story, Big Bushy Mustache, a realistic fiction selection. We will be reading for comprehension and fluency. Prediction will be our strategy focus. Our skill focus will be inferences.
Writing: We will be writing about our New Year’s resolution. We will begin the editing process of writing. Their peers give three positive comments in regards to their writing followed by the author (student) setting a writing goal.
Spelling: Unit 15: words with long o such as both, grow and swallow. Spelling Test will be on Thursday.
Math: We will begin minute drills in class to help us with math fact fluency (it will only be sent home if your child needs practice). We will work on how to make change by counting up (Unit 3 3.7-3.9) We will finish our week with a test.
Religion: We will begin Unit 3. Goal: The students will be grateful for God’s loving mercy in giving us the gift of the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Social Studies: We will read an article on Maps. We will begin writing our letter to our Flat Host this week. By next week, we will mail them out requesting them to return our flat people be the end of January. We have our School Fair on February 26th.
