Sneak Peek to our Academic Week

math: This week we continue on with Unit 4, measurement. We have been practicing a lot with perimeter; finding the distance around a shape. Now, we will dive into area; the amount of space taken up by a shape.

reading: We begin our new reading unit; mystery! In this unit we will read through many books with the genre of mystery, using our comprehension skills as we read. This week we will work on getting ourselves started when reading a mystery book by asking, “what is the mystery here?” & “who is the crime solver?”

writing: We continue with our information writing. This week we will begin researching on our topics, use the ideas we learn from our research, and incorporate them into our pieces!

word work: Word lists can be found in your child’s planner. Spelling tests are scheduled for this Friday.

religion: As we read through Chapter 9, God Is Just and Merciful, we will name the ways that God shows justice and mercy. Then, we will recall the Good Shepherd story, which shows God’s merciful love.

social studies: All about Martin Luther King Jr!

Have a great week!
