- math: This week we continue working with very large numbers, up to millions! We will work on how to compare, dictate, and write these large numbers throughout the week. We have some Valentine’s Day themed math, too!
- reading: We are having a lot of fun with our character study unit as we read through our class mentor books, Because of Winn Dixie and with The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. This week we will continue to think about the main characters and see if we begin to notice patterns about them throughout the story.
- writing: This week in our informational writing pieces we will use several different writing techniques to come up with a strong conclusion. As writers, we want to make sure that we end the reports just as well as we began them!
- word work: Spelling words can be found in your child’s planner and on Kids/Vocabulary A-Z. Spelling tests are scheduled for this Friday.
- religion: We continue on with The Ten Commandments this week! We will focus on Commandments #6-10.
- science: We will learn all about plant domestication with a yummy apple taste test! We will taste four different varieties of apples to learn about the traits (color, texture, and flavor) of apples that humans have artificially selected to encourage!
A lot of learning!
Have a blessed week,
Miss Poindexter
