- math: This week we begin working with decimals! We will start with the basics of decimals first, going over place value of each digit in a decimal.
- reading: We are having a lot of fun with our character study unit as we read through our class mentor books, Because of Winn Dixie and with The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. This week we will continue to think about the main characters and watch them go up and down the story mountain. In our fiction stories, characters often face a problem that gets bigger and bigger before they reach a turning point and get it resolved. We will follow our characters up this mountain as we determine the problem in the story, the resolution, and ending!
- writing: This week we will take a break from our informational writing give all of our attention to our class project, The Best Part of Me. In this project, we will read the book, The Best Part of Me. From there, we will find the best part of us, our favorite parts about ourselves and write all about it! This turns into a great project that allows for self-reflection & positive self image.
- word work: Spelling words can be found in your child’s planner and on Kids/Vocabulary A-Z. Spelling tests are scheduled for this Friday.
- religion: As we begin our Lenten journey together, we will spend a lot of time talking about the importance of Lent and how we can better ourselves during this time. We will begin our Lent journey together in church for an Ash Wednesday mass at 8:30AM. Please join us if your schedule permits!
- science: We will learn all about how clouds look and feel to discover what they’re made of and how they form.
- social studies: All about the Chumash Indians!
Thank you for all you do!
Have a blessed week,
Miss Poindexter
