Sneak peek to our academic week:

Math: This week we continue working hard at multiplication! As mentioned before, we will continue to explore the different ways to solve a multiplication fact without having them memorized by using diagrams, equal groups, and arrays.  This week we will focus primarily on multiplication number stories and tying them into division.  At home, please continue/begin memorizing those multiplication facts! It will be a great way to get your children familiar with all of the facts.

Prodigy.com is a great resource our class uses to study our weekly content in math.  If you’d like to practice a little more, prodigy is a fun and engaging game that our class loves! Login and passwords can be found in your child’s planner.

Reading: This week in reading we will focus on biographies.  Throughout our unit we have spent a lot of time reading and analyzing expository non-fiction texts, but now we are going to spotlight on biographies. With them, we will practice the different ways we can read different text structures, like those in biographies.

Writing: We continue working hard at our informational writing. This week we continue to emphasize the importance of structure in our writing.    The organizational skills that writers use for their table of contents can help them plan their chapters. This is a skill that we practice first hand.

Science: This week we will dive into our chapter: Organisms of Long Ago.  More specifically we will discuss the organisms that once lived on Earth but no longer exist.

Spelling/Word Work: This weeks spelling words can be found in your child’s planner. Spellingcity.com is a good resource to use at home to study those words! Our tests are scheduled for next Tuesday, due to the short week.

Religion: This week in religion we continue with the Apostles’/Nicene Creed, their importance, and working to memorize them.

Social Studies: This week in Social Studies we will focus on the regions of the United States as well as the four regions of California- the Coast, Central Valley, Mountain, and Desert Regions.
