Speak Peek to our academic week:

Math: This week we wrap up Unit 1, continuing to work with time, money, and number patterns. Unit 1 was entirely a review from second grade. Our first math test is scheduled for this Wednesday. Please refer to our unit review packet in your child’s take home folder to help study for the test!

Reading: In our fiction texts, we work to make higher-level predictions in our stories. We will work on re-telling our stories…focusing on the big, important events. The best re-tells skip over the small details and share the big moments in the story.

Writing: This week, we begin drafting our narrative stories. We have chosen our “seed” idea. This week we will work on creating leads to our writing, including dialogue and actions. Then, we will work on a flash draft of our writing.

Word Work: Spelling words can be found in your child’s planner as well as on Spellingcity.com. Our first spelling test is scheduled for this Thursday.

Religion: This week we wrap up Chapter 3- We are God’s Holy People. Mid week we will take our chapter 3 quiz. We will then begin learning about and memorizing the Apostle’s Creed.

Social studies: We will discuss, read, and recognize several heroes from September 11th.

Have a wonderful week,

Miss Poindexter
