We will set off to our long Memorial Day weekend this week! We will not have school May 25th-29th.
We resume school on Tuesday, May 30th.
May 30th is also a free free dress day.
No PE on May 30th.
A sneak peak to our week… 🙂
Math: We continue working with our partial product and lattice methods. Our class has begun multiplying two digit numbers by two digit numbers. Although some IXLs have become seemingly difficult, please remind your children to slow down and work the problems out as best they can. Please do not worry about reaching to 100% on the difficult IXL assignments, I will monitor our progress and continue to work on the problem spots throughout this week.
NO math homework this week!
Reading: We are reaching the end of our Reader’s Workshop unit. In previous weeks we have learned how to grow ideas and ask ourselves questions as we read and research. This week, we will continue to pursue those questions and develop evidence-based theories about our animals. I am so impressed with the hard work third grade has put into our research clubs!
Homework: Read 100+ minutes and record in your reading logs. NO fluency this week.
Word Work: Spelling words can be found in planners. Our spelling test is scheduled for Friday, June 2nd.
Writer’s Workshop: Opinion writing continues. This week our class will emphasize on considering the audience when writing opinion/persuasive pieces. We will discuss and learn about how good writers select and discard material in order to engage their audience. It is the selection of words that a piece finds power!
Grammar: Unit 4 is complete! Our grammar test is scheduled for this Wednesday. For extra practice, students may access Grammar Workshop online.
Social Studies: We will take a look at the different forms of government that our cities and towns have, comparing the ways cities and towns govern themselves.
Science: We will begin our unit on the phases of the moon.
Religion: All about Pentecost! We will have a Ch. 11 religion quiz this week.
I hope you all have a blessed Memorial Day weekend!
Thank you for your constant support!
