Sneak Peek to our Academic Week
math: This week we continue on with unit 1. This unit consists mainly of review from 2nd grade! This week we will focus on finding the place value up to thousands, clocks and time, and some addition and subtraction.
reading: This week we continue to work on our reading with fiction books. We will continue to work on being strong, third grade readers as we work on taking responsibility for our reading skills. We will learn how to check our own comprehension by stopping at the end of every chapter and giving ourselves comprehension checks.
writing: Currently we are working on our narrative writing. As we write, we make sure we are being storytellers by including and adding great detail to our writing. We want our readers to be able to picture our stories in their heads!
word work: We will begin word work next week. As a reminder, word work is the study of words and their spelling patterns. Our differentiated word work groups will be mixed in with fourth grade’s word work groups, too!
religion: We continue reflecting in our prayer journals as well as work on memorizing The Apostles Creed.
science: All about fossils! We will learn how we can infer what the outside of an animal looked like by using clues about their skeleton.
social studies: This week we will learn to identify and describe types of geographical features in California.
Have a great week!
