Sneak Peek to our Academic Week

math: This week we will continue to work with basic math fact extensions. Example: 2 + 3= 5 & 20+30=50. Then, we will begin adding and subtracting using “what’s my rule?” problems. Here, students will solve problems in which one quantity depends on another by illustrating the relationship between pairs of numbers using the “what’s my rule?” function machine.

reading: This week we talk about how reading takes grit! At times, reading can be difficult. This week we will focus on the reading strategies we can use when coming across words we don’t know.

writing: As we continue drafting our narrative pieces, we will work with new independence, working on revising our pieces by balancing our details, using correct punctuation, etc.

word work: Spelling words can be found in your child’s planner and on Vocabulary A-Z. Our spelling test is scheduled for this Friday.

religion: In Chapter 4, we will focus on Mary. We will discuss how God called Mary to be holy, reading about the Annunciation. Chapter 4 religion quiz is scheduled for this Friday.

science: This week in science we continue with the topic of dinosaurs. We will further investigate the mystery, “Can you outrun a dinosaur?” We will learn how dinosaurs didn’t just leave behind bones, they also left footprints, some of which fossilized.

social studies: This week we will read all about John Muir! We will learn and read about how he was a naturalist who studies plants and animals and how they develop.

Have an awesome week!

Blessings,
Miss Poindexter
