Sneak Peek to our Academic Week
math: This week we will wrap up our multiplication and division unit. As we become familiar with our multiplication and division facts, we will continue practicing with number stories. Number stories (word problems) are particularly tricky when trying to figure out the operation. Based on the keywords found in the number story, are we adding, subtracting, multiplying, or dividing? Our math test is scheduled for this Thursday.
reading: We continue to work hard in our differentiated, small reading groups as we continue to practice the skills at our level. As a whole class, we are learning all about cause and effect this week. As readers, it is important to identify that every effect (event in the story) has a cause (the reason why something happened).
writing: In our narrative pieces, we will work on incorporating transitions in our pieces. As writers, we need to include transitional words to make way for good flow.
word work: We continue on with our differentiated spelling groups! We will study the spelling patterns in our words throughout the week. Spelling words can be found in your child’s planner and on their Kids A-Z app.
religion: Advent is among us! This week we will focus on the first week of Advent and its theme: Hope.
S(science)T(technology)E(engineering)M(math): How can we successfully construct the tallest shelf for an elf?
Have a great week!
