Sneak Peek of our Academic Week

math: This week we wrap up our unit on decimals! Working up to our math test, we will continue to work on place value in decimals, comparing decimals, and writing decimals as fractions. Our math test is scheduled for this Thursday, 2/22.

reading: We will work on drawing conclusions in our reading this week! We will practice this skill with a Pixar Short, Lonely Island, our class read aloud The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, and in our differentiated reading groups!

writing: We have come up with some great ways to hook our readers through our introductions! Now, we will work on incorporating topic sentences at the beginning of each paragraph. This skill allows for our informational reports to be nice and organized.

word work: We continue on with Words Their Way! This is our differentiated spelling program where we focus on spelling patterns to help us become the best spellers we can be. Spelling words can be found on Vocabulary A-Z + in your child’s planner. It’s always great to practice these throughout the week.

religion: This week, as we step off into our Lenten journey, we are going to spend time becoming familiar with the Stations of the Cross, the fourteen different moments on the day Jesus died for us. This helps us grow so much closer to Jesus

Each Wednesday leading up to Lent, at 1:50 PM, we will be attending Stations of the Cross as a school. Please join if your schedule allows!

science: This week in science we will continue to explore the Solar System, focusing on the outer planets!

Thank you all for your continued support.

Have a great week,
Miss Poindexter
