Sneak Peek To Our Academic Week
Math: This week, we wrap up our unit 7. We will take our math test this Tuesday. We will then step into fractions! This is a brand-new concept to third grade, so we will start with the foundational skills first.
reading: We continue with our class read-aloud, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. As we read together, we will practice our comprehension skills through discussion, writing, and questioning.
writing: This week in our opinion writing unit, we will work to write strong opinions. In our opinion writing essays, the main goal is to be convincing. We will work on ways to use our words and vocabulary to include strong and bold opinions.
religion: Our Seminarian, Jessie, will begin popping into our class each Monday to teach us religion. His focus with us this week is the rosary and Mary.
This week we will dive deep into the Stations of the Cross and reflect on each one.
We will be attending 8:30 am mass this Friday. Each Wednesday afternoon leading up to Easter, we will be heading to the church for Stations of the Cross at 2p. Please join us for either or both, if your schedule allows!
word work: We continue with Words Their Way! This differentiated spelling program allows our students to learn phonics, vocabulary, and spelling. It’s a hands-on approach to use word study to help us become better spellers. New spelling words will be written in your child’s planner every Monday.
cursive: This week, we will learn the lowercase j.
science: As scientists, we will explore the question, can magnets pass through any material? Our focus is on magnetism.
art: We will continue to work on our Funky Bunny art piece!
Have a wonderful week!
Blessings,
Miss Poindexter
