We had a fun morning learning about the Total Solar Eclipse! We got to tune into NASA’s live broadcast and watch the sun and moon align.

Sneak Peek of our Academic Week
math: In math this week we will be introduced to parentheses in number sentences. We will learn all about the importance of solving the number model inside of the parentheses first, before solving the outside portion! For example, (9 x 3) + 4 = ?
reading: In our class read-aloud, Because of Winn Dixie, and in our differentiated reading groups, we will be analyzing the main characters. In doing so, we will work on finding the character’s motivation. Character motivation is the why behind the actions of characters.
writing: This week we will work on constructing STRONG opinions in our opinion pieces. We want to make sure to convince our readers and we must have strong + bold opinions to do this!
word work: We continue on with Words Their Way! This is our differentiated spelling program where we focus on spelling patterns to help us become the best spellers we can be. Spelling words can be found on Vocabulary A-Z + in your child’s planner. It’s always great to practice these throughout the week.
religion: Jesus Gives the Spirit to the Church; we will reflect on how the Holy Spirit empowers the Church and us to continue the work of Jesus throughout our lives.
science: All about the TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE! We will spend our Monday morning learning all about the total solar eclipse; how and why it occurs. We will take a look into NASA’s live broadcast of this awesome moment!
social studies: California Native American Indian Tribe study!
